Illinois Work Incentive Grant
Assistive Technology Support Site

Site: Career.com (http://www.career.com/)
Reviewed: December 2003

Overview:

Launched in 1993, Career.com is the first Internet recruiting service. The advantages over other recruiting sites include: more qualified applicants in the database of candidates (at least 75% with a college degree), lower cost per hire, higher recruiter productivity, reduced paper work, and faster time-to-hire (as short as two weeks).

Accessibility:

The site's accessibility is poor and it would be very frustrating for nearly all assistive technology users. Though not impossible, navigation is very difficult using anything other than a mouse. Screen readers have difficulty reading the text of the pages in a logical order, and keyboard navigation is very difficult and illogical in most places. Job opportunity details are presented in pop-up windows, which may be confusing for certain users. The site is difficult to use and confusing for all users.
