Description:The Kensington Expert Mouse trackball is a replacement for a standard mouse. Unlike a standard mouse, the device itself stays stationary on the desk or mouse tray.
To move the mouse pointer, a user simply rolls the cue-ball sized trackball within the stationary base. The user can then remove his or her hand from the ball and press any of the four buttons without danger of moving the pointer. As such, the Expert Mouse can be very useful for users with even mildly impaired dexterity. Using the included MouseWorks software, any of the four mouse buttons can be programmed to perform common tasks such as double-click or click-and-drag with just a single click, further increasing the benefit for users with disabilities. Installation Notes:The Expert Mouse connects directly to a standard (PS/2 or USB) mouse port. If attached to the USB port, it may be used in tandem with a standard PS/2-port mouse. Out of the box, the Expert Mouse will function as standard mouse, with both left buttons serving as left-click and both right buttons as right-click. If the included MouseWorks software is installed, any of the main buttons may be programmed (e.g. for double-click and or drag), and the six "DirectLaunch" buttons can be set to launch favorite Internet sites. If the buttons are re-programmed, be sure to provide indications of what the buttons will do - it may be helpful to print out a listing or diagram and post it near the PC with the Expert Mouse attached.
