Description:

The XL-50 Amplified Telephone is designed to assist individuals who are hard-of-hearing by amplifying both the telephone ring and the sound of the incoming caller's voice. A red light on the front of the phone flashes to indicate when the phone is ringing. Additionally, the telephone's dial pad buttons are large an widely spaced, making it easy to use for callers with mild low-vision or impaired dexterity.

Operation:

Incoming Voice Volume

Adjust the volume of incoming calls by sliding the VOL control just below the dial pad. For additional amplification, press the AMPLIFY button. Amplification will turn off when the phone is hung up. (Or press the amplification button again to turn amplification off at any time.)

Warning: the AMPLIFY button can increase incoming voice volume up to 48 dB, which can be uncomfortably loud for individuals without hearing impairments. Be sure that users are aware of this function before they use this phone.

Ringer Volume

The Ringer Volume Control switch is located on the right side of the phone. It has three settings, "Lo", "Med" and "Hi".
The Ring Tone switch, also on the right side, has two pitch settings, "Lo" and "Hi".

Connecting to an Assitive Listening Device

An Audio Output socket on the right side of the phone can be connected directly to a hearing aid, neck loop, or other assistive listening device using a cable with 1/8" plugs.
