The set of illuminated, hand-held magnifiers includes five different magnification strengths, ranging from 3X (least) to 8X (strongest). It is important to note that the larger magnifiers are actually those with weaker magnification. (The stronger lenses are more curved, which means they must be smaller to avoid distorting the image.) Each magnifier uses a special light emitting diode (LED), which is more efficient and lasts longer than a regular bulb. Three AA batteries are used to power the LED lights. Operation:These magnifiers are designed primarly for reading printed materials. They can be rested directly on the reading material (paper or newspaper), and the magnifier housing will hold the lens at the proper distance for best focus. The Ecolux magnifier lenses are made of plexiglass and treated to resist scratching, but they need do need to be handled carefully. For cleaning, use a soft cotton cloth with mild soap and water. Avoid using paper towels or tissues, alcohol, or other strong cleaning liquids. |
